At True Blue Glass, we believe culture isn’t just written on the wall—it’s lived every day on-site, in the workshop, and among our dedicated team. In this blog, Stewart Patrick, one of our longest-serving trades professionals, shares how working for True Blue Glass shaped his career and why the company stands out in the glass and aluminium industry.
With experience across various glazing businesses, Stewart’s skillset grew from hands-on installation to operations management. But what truly aligned with his career vision was the opportunity to become a Master Glazier, and True Blue Glass provided the support, recognition, and growth path to help him achieve exactly that. Hitting the fifth-year mark with True Blue Glass, Stewart’s journey speaks volumes.
Craftsmanship that is recognised and rewarded
Before joining True Blue Glass, Stewart worked in factory settings where his skills often went unnoticed.
“I’ve worked in factories and everything as well, and the factory life, you don’t really get that recognition for what you want you do or can do,” he said.
Now working as a Master Glazier at True Blue Glass, Stewart leads by example. While his days involve everything from shower screen installations to complex repair jobs, what makes his work unique is the company’s appreciation for his niche skills in problem-solving. Knowing his work is valued, Stewart strives to live up to the high expectations he set for himself.
“True Blue Glass actually recognise your skills. If you’ve got a particular skill set, they’ll work with you in those areas,” he continued.
Working at True Blue Glass also means you will work as a team and feel like part of the team. That is what truly makes it stand out in the industry.
More than just a number
In many workplaces, tradespeople can feel like just a number, but this does not happen at True Blue Glass.
“You feel like an actual person working there, not just a number. Everyone helps each other out. It’s this tight-knit, team-first culture that continues to attract and retain talent,” said Stewart.
Career growth matters
At True Blue Glass, we support our team’s growth by assigning them experienced glaziers as mentors. We believe great careers are built through hands-on experience and the opportunity to learn from the best in the industry. Stewart’s journey is a reflection of that. From day one, our experienced glaziers shared their knowledge generously, helping him build confidence and refine his skills. With that encouragement, Stewart pursued additional training and eventually achieved his goal of becoming a Master Glazier.
“I took additional courses to become a Master Glazier, and True Blue Glass paid for my training courses,”he added.
In 2023, Stewart decided to explore new opportunities and left True Blue Glass. But something about the culture, the people, and the way True Blue Glass does things drew him back in the same year.
While other businesses tend to stick with routines, True Blue Glass isn’t afraid to change with the times, and they value input from those on the ground.
“Some businesses are narrow-minded and do not like to change, but not True Blue Glass. They’ll listen to your ideas and work with them if it fits the long-term vision,”shared Stewart.
In the pursuit of keeping up with the updated industry innovations, Stewart came back to True Blue Glass. It remains a place where he finds growth, innovation, and a group of people whom he calls a team.
